Big Little Lies is perhaps the best-known example while based on a novel by Liane Moriarty with a very clear ending, the performances of Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, and Zoë Kravitz were so well-received that HBO commissioned a second season and added Meryl Streep to the cast. The writing and directing in the first episode seem to go to great lengths to highlight the semi-autobiographical details which are suggested by the show's title, only for the crime drama elements to then take this true-ish story in a vastly different direction.Īll seven episodes of True Story are now streaming on Netflix, and some viewers are so impressed by Hart's dramatic acting-and his brotherly chemistry with the scene-stealing Snipes-that they are wondering if a Season 2 could be on the cards.
